Tuna!!!!

Tuna!!!!

We got lucky this morning and set out on them, catching a handful in a few circles, it was scrappy the rest of the day just a couple more bites, but we got lucky with a catch of blackfins and a lone dolphin for the boys from the Middle Peninsula of Virginia

The Latest Outer Banks Fishing Reports

The Latest Outer Banks Fishing Reports

The Outer Banks of North Carolina are renowned for their angling opportunities, offering everything from surf fishing to offshore expeditions. Here’s what’s biting and where:

Surf and Pier Fishing

  • Nags Head: Anglers are reeling in impressive catches of drum and flounder. Fresh shrimp and sand fleas are working well as bait.
  • Jennette’s Pier: Spot and croaker have been abundant, with the occasional Spanish mackerel making an appearance. Live baitfish seems to be the key.
  • Rodanthe Pier: The pier has yielded a mixture of bluefish and striped bass, especially during high tides.

Inshore Fishing

  • Oregon Inlet: Speckled trout and red drum are the stars of inshore fishing in this area. Soft plastics and topwater lures are yielding the best results.
  • Pamlico Sound: Flounder fishing is heating up with some great keepers being reported. Gulp baits on jig heads are recommended.

Offshore Fishing

  • Gulf Stream: Offshore charters are experiencing action-packed days, with catches of mahi-mahi, tuna, and wahoo. Ballyhoo rigged with skirted lures continue to be successful.
  • Wreck Fishing: Anglers targeting wrecks are finding amberjack and various types of grouper responding well to live bait and jigs.

Tips for Success

  • Keep an eye on the weather and sea conditions.
  • Make sure you have the proper licenses and are aware of the current regulations.
  • Local bait shops can provide the latest updates and tips for what’s working.

Remember, fishing conditions can change rapidly, so it’s best to check with local charters or bait shops for the most recent information before heading out. Happy fishing!
