Today’s make-up fishing trip aboard the Bite Me was a thrilling adventure for our group of anglers, comprised of individuals and small groups who came together to share the cost of the charter and experience world-class fishing out of Hatteras Inlet. The day was fairly pretty with favorable weather conditions, setting the stage for an exciting outing in the abundant waters of the Atlantic Gulf Stream, just a short ride from the marina.

We kicked off the trip targeting mahi-mahi (dolphin fish) using bailing rods, and the action was hot right from the start. The group landed a mess of dolphins, including several impressive gaffers—larger mahi that put up a great fight and added to the excitement. These vibrant, hard-fighting fish were a highlight, with their acrobatic leaps and stunning colors making for memorable catches.

As we transitioned to trolling, the crew’s expertise shone through. We hooked a skipjack tuna, a fast and feisty species that added variety to our haul. The day’s crescendo came near the end when we hooked a sailfish—a true bucket-list catch! The sailfish put on a spectacular show, leaping and tail-walking across the water before being brought aboard for photos and a safe release.
