This is our third year coming to the Outer Banks for our annual couples retreat. Today the ladies went to visit a nail salon for pedicures. The salon had the worst service. One of our friends was not getting a pedicure but wanted to sit and talk with us and they asked her to sit somewhere else. They rolled their eyes, talked in another language and made us feel very unwelcomed. And worst of all the pedicure was not up to standards. The nail polish was smudgy and our skin did not look like it had been through a pedicure. The owner was rude, he rushed us through and the one lady he had working with him commented that he did not know how to give a pedicure. If we didn't think it was against the law we would not have paid him! We did not leave a tip (they didn't deserve it) and to top it off the female nail technician asked for a tip! The salon is Elite Nails. Please let us know if we can do anything further to make sure no one else has the horrible experience. Thank you!

We had a water leak coming from below toilet seat at the floor. I called my sister who owns the bach house where I was staying in Nags Head. She spoke to Brian Runnells of Affordable Plumbing and asked if he would come fix it. He said yes. She asked if he could call me to set up an appointment. He said yes. Around 8:45 a.m. or so, My sister called me and said that he would be calling me at 10:00 a.m. I did not receive any calls and around 11:45-12:15, I let my sister know. She called him again and he called me a few minutes later. He apologized and said he had written one number incorrectly from what my sister had given me. He said he wondered why when he left me a few messages, I did not call back. So we talked about the problem we had here at the beach house. He said he would try and come by and asked if he could call me back. He asked that when he did call back, and if I happened to be out of the house, could I return within 30 minutes of his call. He said he would call when he knew he would be here in 30 minutes. I told him that was fine. I never left the house and did no receive another call until 4:30 or so (give or take 20 minutes). He said he was sorry, but he wanted to know if I still wanted him to come out. Thinking that I may be charged an after hours rate, I asked him if he could come in the morning. He said yes. I asked what time he could come. He said 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. I said 8:00 a.m. would be fine. He said he wuold call me at 7:30 to let me know he was on his way. I said that sounded good. At 7:17 the next morning (which was yesterday 7-19-11), he said he had gotten an emergency call and was working at a restaurant nearby. He said if it was ok to come in an hour. I said that was fine. I expected him to come around 8:30 a.m. at this point. I did not receive a call from him until 9:41 a.m. He apologized and said if it was ok to come by in 30 minutes. I said that would be fine. I waited until 11:35 and he had not called or come by. I called his cell phone and left him a message. It was not a mean message. I just told him who I was and I was still waiting and for him to call me back. Ten minutes later I called my sister to let her know. She said she would try to call him. She sent me a txt message saying she left him a "stern" message. I do not know what was said, nor did I ask. At 1:00 p.m., I decided not to wait and took my wife and son to lunch. I left a note on the door saying what I was doing and asked him to call me back if he liked. We ran some errands but I never got a call from him. I do not know if he came by the house or not. No message was left there either when we returned. I never got a call back all afternoon or evening, nor did I try and call him. One can only guess what happened. I would like to guess that he had too many appointments and the job we had here was not a big concern or priority to him because it was not a big money making job. I am only guessing. He was vry polite and apologetic when I spoke to him. If you choose this plumber, I would not expect a fast response. for whatever that is worth, you decide. I did not have the luxury of locating any previous comments from any other customers to find out how his work ethic was.

I am staying at my sister's beachhouse in Nags Head and had a problem with water leaking from the bottom of the toilet seat. It appeared the wax seal was broken. My sister called and spoke to Brian Runnells to see if he could come fix it. He said he could so she provided him the beach house number along with my cell phone number. This was about 8:30 or so in the a.m. My sister called me back and told me he would call me back about 10:00 a.m. I never heard from him until 11:30-12:00. He said he had written down my cell phone number wrong and had left several messages. He apologized and sounded like nice guy. He said he would try and come by and asked if he could call me back later and asked when he called back (if we were out of the house), if we could get back within 30 minutes. I told him that was fine. He did not call back til around 4:00-4:30 or so. He said he could still come by later if I liked because he messed up earlier in getting my phone number wrong. I said if he wanted to come in the morning time, that would be fine with me, I was afraid that he would charge me more being a late afternoon or evening call. This is why I scheduled it until then. I realized after the fact, I should have told him to come anyways. He said the morning time (which would be 7-19-11)was fine and he said whatever time I wanted would be good for him. I asked him how early he could be here. He said 7:30-8:00 a.m. I said 8:00 would be fine and he said he would call me at 7:30 to let me know he ws coming. I said that would be fine. At 7:19 a.m. yesterday morning, he called and advised me that they had an emergency call at a restaurant, but said he would probably be done in an hour and would come right after. He also said he was right down the street from me. i said that would be fine. I was expecting him around 8:30 a.m. then. I waited and waited and got a call from him a 9:41 a.m. He apologized for running late and said he would be here in 30 minutes. I said that was fine. After hanging up, I waited and waited, but he never showed up. I called his number at 11:35 a.m. and got his voicemail, so I left him voicemail saying that I was still waiting and for him to call me back. It was not a mean voicemail. I told him I was just waiting for him to show up. Ten minutes later I called my sister who owns the beach house and told her. She was not too happy because she has other people coming in after me on Friday, so she wanted it fixed. I hung up with her and she sent me a text message back saying she left a "stern" message for him. I have no clue what she said nor did I ask. I waited until 1 p.m. and got tired of waiting, so my wife and son and I left to eat lunch and run some errands. I left a message on the door letting the plumber know where we were and if he liked, he could call me on my cell phone. Long story short, I never got a call and do not know if he ever appeared. I never called him back. Each time I spoke to him he was really nice and positive, but I really do not know what happened. One can always guess and I think he was over-scheduled on appointments and took the big jobs first. Whatever the reason, I thinkI at least deserved a call back explianing why he never came by. So if you call this guy, do not expect a fast response.
